I see that you are looking for memories of the past.  I have a memory that I’ll never forget, and that’s  the time we went on a goodwill cruise to South America.  When we tied up in Buenos Aires, Argentina the Swift Packing Co. had a big B Q for us.  They held it in some park.  It seemed that they had a barrel of beer under every tree and any kind of meat we wanted.  A good time was had by all.  We stopped at several ports in South America: Santos, Brazil, Recife Brazil, Montevidio Uruguay.

That’s when I became a shellback, crisscrossing the equator, when we were looking for blockade runners.  Now those were the days when everyone loved the USA.  This all happened in Jan. 1942.

P.S. OH! By the way, the girls were wonderful too (I was 18 or 19 at the time).
